Nissan Sentra and dump truck crash on Highway 36 east of Hamilton

A traffic accident on Highway 36, four miles east of Hamilton, Missouri, resulted in moderate injuries for a 23-year-old woman from St. Joseph. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred at noon on February 26, 2024, involving a 2024 Nissan Sentra and a 2007 Western Star dump truck.

Taylor D. Owens, driving the Nissan Sentra, was heading eastbound on Highway 36 when Fredrick E. Hanson, operating the southbound dump truck on Route B, crossed into the path of Owens’s vehicle. The impact occurred as the front left of the Sentra struck the front right of the dump truck, leading both vehicles to come to rest in the intersection.

Owens sustained moderate injuries in the crash. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident. Emergency responders transported Owens to Mosaic LifeCare in St. Joseph for treatment. Hanson, the 65-year-old driver of the dump truck from Linneus, Missouri, was also wearing his seat belt and escaped the incident without injuries.

Both vehicles suffered significant damage in the collision. The Nissan Sentra was reported as a total loss and was towed by Legacy Tow, while the Western Star dump truck sustained moderate damage and was removed from the scene by US 36 Auto and Diesel.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by Sergeant M.A. Wilhoit and the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department.
