Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that his office filed suit in Boone County against Anthony Walters, 36, for allegedly defrauding a consumer in connection with his business Anthony Walters Carpentry, LLC when he failed to provide promised home renovation services.

“I will always fight for the rule of law, which includes holding individuals accountable for ripping off Missourians,” said Attorney General Bailey. “The Attorney General’s Office will use every tool at our disposal to obtain justice for victims of consumer fraud.”

General Bailey’s lawsuit asserts that Walters promised to provide construction services and materials in exchange for advance payment. After taking payments from the consumer, Walters provided minimal services and materials, failed to complete the project, and failed to provide a refund. The consumer’s loss is approximately $6,500.

General Bailey is seeking full restitution for the affected consumer, injunctive relief, and civil penalties.

Consumers who believe that they have been scammed by Anthony Walters or another contractor should file a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office by calling the Consumer Protection Hotline at 800-392-8222 or by submitting a complaint online at ago.mo.gov.
