Trump smashes two grand slams, NCMC Lady Pirates sweep Southwestern

North Central Missouri College sophomore and Trenton native Madi Trump hit grand slam home runs in the second and third innings on Wednesday afternoon at Mark Griffin Memorial Field, powering the Lady Pirates softball team to a 13-5 win over Southwestern Community College, and a sweep of a junior college doubleheader.

NCMC dominated the early innings in game #2 against the Lady Spartans, scoring three runs in the first inning, and five each in the second and third.  Trump had eight RBI’s, three base hits (including a double), and three runs scored for the Lady Pirates.  Bethany Jacobsen and Courtney Seymour both scored three times, while TeriAnna Mohler and Arika Ziegler both had two runs scored.

Allison Hilsabeck picked up the pitching win for NCMC, going 4 innings, giving up two home runs, and striking out three batters.  Bailey Perkins scuffled through the top of the fifth inning, giving up three runs on three hits, but the game ended after Southwestern cut only cut the Lady Pirates lead to 13-5.

The first game of the day was much more of a pitching duel, with NCMC doubling up Southwestern 4-2.  Jessica Stupar fired 5 2/3 innings of five-hit softball for North Central, with both runs given up being unearned.  Stupar struck out eight batters.  Hilsabeck picked up the save with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Shortstop Rachael Balke had all four RBI’s for North Central (two in the first and two in the third), with a double and two singles in four at-bats.  Jacobsen and Trump scored two runs each for the Lady Pirates.

NCMC will host the Graceland University JV on Thursday afternoon at 2 and 4 o’clock.  The Lady Pirates are now 10-7 on the season.
