The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has reassigned nine players to minor league camp: pitchers Christian Binford, Jonathan Dziedzic, Aroni Nina, Brooks Pounders and Sam Selman; infielders Hunter Dozier and Balbino Fuenmayor as well as catchers Zane Evans and Cam Gallagher.  In addition, the club has optioned pitchers Miguel Almonte and Kyle Zimmer and outfielders Brett Eibner and Jose Martinez to Triple-A Omaha and pitcher Alec Mills, infielder Ramon Torres and outfielders Jorge Bonifacio and Bubba Starling to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Later in the afternoon, the club optioned infielder Cheslor Cuthbert to Triple-A Omaha and left-handed pitcher Matt Strahm to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.  The Royals now have 44 active players remaining in Major League Spring Training, which does not include left-handed pitcher Jason Vargas, who is on the 60-day disabled list.  Of those 44 players remaining in camp, 14 of them are non-roster invitees.
