Royals select contract of Dillon Gee, place Mike Minor on 60-day disabled list

The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Dillon Gee from Triple-A Omaha, adding him to the 40-man roster.  In a corresponding roster move, the Royals have placed left-handed pitcher Mike Minor on the 60-day disabled list as he recovers from left labrum surgery.

Gee, 29, signed a minor league deal with the Royals on December 18, 2015 and has made two appearances for the club this spring.  He spent the first six seasons of his Major League career with the New York Mets, going 40-37 with a 4.03 ERA in 114 appearances and 110 starts, which included winning a career-high 13 games in 2011.  The right-hander also tossed a career-best 199.0 innings in 2013.

Following the move, the Royals have 43 players in Major League camp, along with left-handed pitchers Jason Vargas and Minor, who are both on the 60-day D.L.  Of the 43 remaining players, 13 of them are non-roster invitees.
