The Green Hills Women’s Shelter in Trenton hopes to build a new facility in the south part of Trenton.

Day advocate Jenna Johnson reports that the original building plan was modified to reduce the cost from $2.2 million to $850,000.

She says the new facility will accommodate 21 individuals. One wing will be educational-based for counseling offices and training rooms, and another wing will be used solely for housing.

Johnson notes the agency needs to raise about $250,000 before April in order to move forward with the building project. She says anyone wishing to donate money or time to raising funds for the new women’s shelter facility should call Green Hills Women’s Shelter Board of Directors member Dave Bain who is in charge of the building project.

She adds Program Director Tammy Taylor can also be called for more information at 816-682-4900.
