The Missouri Department of Conservation is seeking experienced anglers to help teach youth and families to fish.

MDC will offer a training session at the Northeast Regional Office in Kirksville to prepare new volunteers to lead its Discover Nature—Fishing programs.

The training will be the night of May 9th from 6 to 9 o’clock and will cover the Discover Nature—Fishing curriculum, how to teach each lesson, and the materials and teaching tools offered by MDC. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook, a writing utensil, and a snack if they wish. MDC offers the free training to anyone age 14 or older who wants to educate youth.

The Discover Nature—Fishing program helps Missourians of all ages gain the skills and confidence to fish on their own. Anyone interested in the training should pre-register online by clicking HERE. Preregistration is due by May 3rd.

Call MDC Naturalist Alyssa Garver at 660-785-2420 for more information.
