A felony charge of second-degree statutory rape has been filed in Grundy County against a Trenton Police officer. Online court information shows 25-year-old Michael Wilson is to be held without bond after being arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A probable cause statement from Adam McAtee of the Patrol accuses Wilson of engaging in sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl at Wilson’s residence in Trenton on September 3rd. The female reportedly disclosed her age prior to sexual contact.  McAtee says Wilson admitted to Patrol investigators that he engaged in sexual intercourse with the girl knowing of her age. The girl was 15 at the time of the alleged offense.

Trenton Police Chief Rex Ross reports Wilson has been terminated from the police department effective immediately.  Ross confirmed Wednesday morning, December 9th, that there was an internal investigation into allegations made against the officer. He says that as a matter of policy and transparency, the investigation will continue by another law enforcement agency, as with any criminal investigation.

Trenton City Clerk Cindy Simpson reports records indicate Wilson began employment with the Trenton Police Department in July 2018.
