A Raytown woman was hurt Saturday night south of Pattonsburg when a car traveled off Interstate 35 and hit a tree.
60-year old Cynthia Ayres was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Ms. Ayres was a passenger in the car driven by 66-year old Stanley Thresher of Independence who was not reported hurt.
The car was southbound on I-35 when Thresher attempted to avoid an animal on the road. Thresher overcorrected, the car went off the right side of the road and struck a tree demolishing the vehicle.
Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.
