Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District responded yesterday to a grass fire in a field about one mile from Brimson.

Rural Fire Chief Kenny Roberts said perhaps 100 acres burned but some of that was due to a controlled burn apparently conducted on Sunday.

It was late morning on Monday when the rural department received its first call about the grass fire. After getting the blaze extinguished then, the district was called back to that location when the fire in a fence row rekindled and the wind further contributed to the fire spreading in the field.
