The #1 and #2 ranked teams in the Class 1 boys poll are still unbeaten, both district champions, and both one win away from a state quarterfinal rematch.  The Winston Redbirds are champions of District 14 and the Stanberry Bulldogs champions of District 15.

Winston hammered the host DeKalb Tigers in Saturday’s District 14 final, 56-18, with Craig Lewis scoring 16 points, Jordan Leonard 15, and Ty Uthe 10 for Winston.  The victory sends the Redbirds to Liberty North High School, and a 7:45 sectional on Tuesday night against the Hardin-Central Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs, in the District 13 final on Saturday afternoon in Norborne, squeezed past Braymer 39-38.  Ryan Layman and Clif Kugler both had 11 points for H-C, while Logan O’Dell paced the Bobcats with 25 points.

Stanberry claimed the District 15 title on their home floor with a 58-44 win over the Jefferson Eagles on Saturday.  Alex McQuinn had 20 points and Daniel Hailey 13 for the Bulldogs, while Michael Burch had 15, Bryce Deen 13, and Jason Sullivan 10 for the Eagles, who end their season at 21-7.  Stanberry, now 27-0 on the season, will play the District 16 champion North Andrew Cardinals on Tuesday night at 7:45 at the St. Joseph Civic Arena.  In Friday night’s district final from Rock Port, North Andrew downed Mound City 64-45.
