Wheeling Homecoming activities abound at Labor Day celebration

The annual Labor Day weekend Wheeling Homecoming has the added feature this year of a Sesquicentennial celebration.

Today’s activities include a baby show is at 9 o’clock this morning with a parade at 11 o’clock themed “Wheeling Through the Years,” and a volleyball tournament starts at noon.

A dinner will be served at the new community center following the parade with a program and celebration of the Sesquicentennial is at 1 o’clock this afternoon.

A time capsule buried in the center of the Wheeling city park is to be raised this afternoon. A dedication of the $300,000 Wheeling Community Center which opened earlier this year following a fundraising campaign.

The band Young Country is to perform this afternoon in Wheeling.
