Walmart has launched the sixth year of the Fight Hunger, Spark Change campaign to assist with the fight to end hunger. The campaign to benefit local food banks runs through May 20th.

Each participating item purchased at Walmart or Sam’s Club will unlock a donation equivalent to one meal, secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks from each supplier up to each supplier’s maximum donation.

Customers can also donate to their local Feeding America member food bank at the registers in Walmart or Sam’s Club stores. There is no limit to what can be raised at the registers.

One hundred percent of the funds raised through in-store purchases and at registers will benefit local member food banks. Donations and funds will be localized based on where each item is sold or customer donation is made.

Blake Haynes is the Communications Coordinator of Second Harvest Community Food Bank of Saint Joseph. He says the Fight Hunger, Spark Change campaign is “a great asset” for the food bank’s mission.

The Community Food Pantry of Grundy County of Trenton receives products from Second Harvest. Contact Second Harvest for more information at 816-364-3663.
