Two persons from Canada were killed and a third injured Sunday morning in an accident three and a half miles east of Chillicothe.

Sheriff Steve Cox reported the location was near the Pleasant Grove Church.

The highway patrol last night identified the victims as 58-year-old Lesley Oman and 56-year-old Sharee Oman both of Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

The driver of the truck, 67-year-old Larry Braun of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, sustained what the highway patrol called moderate injuries and was flown by a medical emergency helicopter to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.

Officers from the highway patrol and from its major crash investigation team reported Braun was eastbound at 9 a-m when the truck traveled off the south side of U-S Highway 36 and struck an embankment. The truck went air borne across LIV Road number 255 and came to rest on its top and was demolished.

The patrol report noted two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston county coroner Scott Lindley. There are the first two traffic fatalities this year in Livingston county.

Assisting at the scene were other highway patrol troopers, the Livingston county sheriff’s department, and Chillicothe emergency medical services.
