Vanessa Olivo from Trenton, Missouri has been selected as North Central Missouri College’s Outstanding Student for November. Vanessa is pursuing her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate and plans to continue to receive her degree as a Registered Nurse. After she graduates from NCMC, Vanessa plans to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City to obtain her Bachelors of Science in Nursing.

Vanessa is involved in the Pre-Med Club at NCMC, a member of Student Support Services, and works as an Emergency Medical Technician. She also helps care for her little sister. “NCMC was a great choice for me. It is right in my hometown, and I am able to be close to home and my sister,” said Vanessa. “The classes are small, and there are so many people willing to help you.”

Vanessa went on to say, “At first, I was afraid of my English class with Linda Cowling. I was worried I wouldn’t understand it and fall behind, but it’s going well. Mrs. Cowling makes it so we understand and enrolling in the extra workshop option really helps a lot.”

Each month, a student is nominated by a faculty or staff member to be featured as an Outstanding Student based on their dedication to educational success, attitude toward learning, and hard work in their field and activities.
