Van rear-ends tractor on Highway 136 near Stanberry

Two Albany residents were hurt when the minivan they were in hit the rear of a farm tractor Friday evening east of Stanberry on Highway 136.

A passenger in the van, 72-year old Karen Nichols of Albany was taken to Northwest Medical Center in Albany with moderate injuries.

The driver of the van, 73-year old Julian Nichols of Albany refused treatment at the scene for minor injuries.

The operator of the farm tractor, 44-year-old Christopher Allenbrand of Stanberry, was not reported hurt.

The accident happened shortly before 5:30 Friday evening three miles east of Stanberry on highway 136 when the tractor and minivan were eastbound, the van hit the rear of the tractor demolishing the van. Damage to the farm tractor was listed as minor.

Both occupants in the van were wearing seatbelts while the operator of the farm tractor was exempt from using a safety device.
