Grundy county’s unemployment rate has climbed to a little above the latest,  statewide, jobless rate of four point three percent.

The January rate (latest month available from the state) is four and a half percent in Grundy County. That’s based on 228 unemployed out of a civilian labor force of over five thousand workers. It should be noted the four and a half percent and those unemployed are the same as one year ago – January 2015.

However, the Grundy county jobless rate did climb from three point seven percent in December to the four point five for January.

Rates in other area counties range from Linn at seven point six percent down to three percent in Worth County.

Unemployment rates are reported as follows: Sullivan at six point two; Carroll is six percent; Harrison five point two; and Chariton five point one, with Mercer four point eight percent; Caldwell is four and a half; Livingston and Putnam each at four point four; and Daviess is at four point two
