Unemployment rates in area counties as low as 2.1% in Livingston County

The latest unemployment rates among area counties range from Linn County at three point six percent down to two point one percent in Livingston County.

All other area counties are in between that range including Grundy County at three point two percent in April – the most recent month available from the Division of Employment Security. Grundy County’s rate includes 142 persons on unemployment out of a civilian labor force of more than 44 hundred workers. These are lower numbers than those in April of last year when Grundy County had 197 on unemployment; and the jobless rate of four point one percent.

The current statewide unemployment rate is three point three percent and Linn County is the only area county with a rate above the state average.

Ranging from two to three percent, alphabetically are Caldwell, Carroll, Chariton, Clinton, Daviess, Gentry, Harrison, Mercer, Putnam, Sullivan, and Worth counties.
