Area unemployment rates continue to decline

Grundy County’s latest unemployment rate for September is lower than the previous month and about steady with last year for September.

The Division of Employment Security reports Grundy County has 133 on unemployment out of a civilian labor force of almost 4,500 which converts to three percent. By comparison, the August rate for Grundy County was four point four percent with 193 on unemployment. The latest rate is comparable to September of last year which was three point one percent.

Statewide, the jobless rate stands at three point two percent.

Most area counties have September rates below the state average including Gentry County which has an unemployment rate of just one point nine percent, with only Holt County lower in northwest Missouri at 1.6%.

Daviess, DeKalb, and Livingston come in at two point two percent, Clinton County is two point three; Caldwell, Carroll, and Chariton are at two point four percent Harrison and Worth counties are both at two and a half percent; Mercer County is two point seven percent; and both Sullivan and Putnam are at two point eight percent.

Linn County continues to have the highest unemployment in the area at four point two percent for September.
