Unemployment rate remains steady in North Missouri

Grundy County’s unemployment rate in the first quarter of this year has remained steady at three and a half percent.

The March rate, the latest month available from the state, shows Grundy County had 165 individuals on unemployment. The civilian labor force was listed as 4,707. The Grundy County unemployment rate in February was three point six percent and in January, the rate stood at three and a half percent.

Area county rates for March range from Linn County at 5.2% down to Gentry county at 2.9%. Missouri’s unemployment rate is three point six percent.

Area counties that have rates above the state average, besides Linn, include Putnam at 4.4%; Sullivan at 4.2%; Carroll at 4.0%; Harrison and DeKalb counties at 3.9%. Equaling the state unemployment rate is Clinton county at 3.6%.

Besides Grundy, other area counties with jobless rates that are less than the state include Mercer, Caldwell, and Worth at 3.5%; Daviess and Chariton is at 3.4%; Livingston County at 3.1%.
