Two-vehicle accident reported on U.S. 65 near Chillicothe

Two vehicles, one of them a large truck, collided one mile north of Chillicothe.

Initial reports from the Highway Patrol list the drivers as 39 year old James Carver from Galt, who was operating a “Peterbilt” truck, and 62 year old Lloyd Dewey of Tina, who was driving a sports utility vehicle.

Dewey was transported to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe with moderate injuries.

The northbound SUV was slowing to turn left into a private drive when it was struck from the rear. The SUV skidded across Highway 65 coming to rest off the west side. The truck came to a stop partially off the east side, partially blocking the northbound lane.

The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department in the 12:40 accident.

The SUV was demolished. The large truck received minor damage.

The Patrol report indicated neither driver was using a seat belt.
