Two life-flighted after striking deer on motorcycle

Two Bogard residents were hurt early yesterday when the motorcycle they were riding hit a deer south of Marceline, throwing both persons from the motorcycle.

The operator, 42-year old James Keeney, and a passenger, 51-year-old Faith Keeney, were flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital at Columbia with serious injuries.

The accident happened three miles south of Marceline on Highway 5. The motorcycle was northbound when it hit the deer, extensively damaging the machine.

Each person was wearing a safety equipment.
