Two injured four miles west of Altamont in Sunday accident, 1 arrested for DWI

Residents of Cameron and Kansas City were injured Sunday afternoon in an accident four miles west of Altamont in western Daviess county.

The driver also was arrested by the highway patrol.

The state patrol said the driver, 21 year old Aaron Balliett of Cameron, was flown by medical helicopter to St Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza in Kansas City.

A passenger in the car, 20-year-old McKenzie Patti of Kansas City, was transported by ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center; later flown by a medical helicopter to the Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.

The highway patrol Sunday afternoon described both persons with serious injuries

The state patrol reports the vehicle went out of control while westbound on Oval Avenue when it traveled across U-S 69 where it struck an embankment and cameto a stop off the west side of the road. The auto was demolished.

The highway patrols’ arrest report accused Aaron Balliett of driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident, and assault in the second degree which was listed as a potential felony charge.
