Two injured after striking farm tractor in Putnam County

Two Pollock residents were injured Tuesday afternoon when the car they were in collided with a farm tractor south of Lemons in Putnam County.

The driver of the car, 44-year old Jackie Reed, was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital at Columbia with serious injuries.

A passenger in the car, 37-year-old William Waugh of Pollock, also was flown to University Hospital at Columbia with moderate injuries.

The operator of the tractor, 56-year-old Curtis Shields of Unionville, was not reported hurt in the accident, which was three miles south of Lemons on Highway 5 at Route HH.

The patrol reports the tractor, which was eastbound on Route HH attempted to cross Highway 5 as the car was southbound and collided with the tractor.

The car was demolished with the tractor sustaining moderate damage.

All three individuals were wearing safety devices.
