Two from Unionville hurt in Highway 5 crash

Two Unionville residents were hurt when a sports utility vehicle overturned off Highway 5 north of Milan on Saturday afternoon.

The driver, 26-year-old Matthew Whitlock of Unionville, was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital at Columbia with serious injuries.

The passenger in the vehicle, 26-year-old Alisa Tilden of Unionville, was transported to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital at Milan with moderate injuries.

The accident happened five miles north of Milan on Highway 5 when the northbound SUV went off the left side of the road at a curve and overturned demolishing the vehicle.

The patrol reports Ms. Tilden was wearing a seatbelt, however Whitlock was not.
