Two Chillicothe residents have been charged with second-degree murder following an investigation into the death of a child on December 24th.

Online court information shows 22-year-old Avery Nicole Young and 46-year-old Christopher Robert Wilson have also each been charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child creating substantial risk involving a first offense and no sexual contact. No bond is allowed for either.

Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples reports officers responded to the 1500 block of Calhoun Street to assist the Chillicothe Department of Emergency Services with an unresponsive two-year-old. That was after a 911 call. The child was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead by the Livingston County Coroner’s Office.

Maples says Chillicothe detectives began an investigation that evening with assistance from the coroner’s office. Detectives filed for and received several subpoenas to obtain information for the case.

Detectives arrested the man and woman on January 4th. The man and woman were taken to the Daviess DeKalb Regional Jail.

Maples notes further investigation and additional charges are being investigated with the possibility of others involved.

Nothing more has been released at this time involving the case.
