Two Brunswick residents sustained injuries as a result of a pickup truck jumping out of gear in Brunswick Saturday afternoon.

The Highway Patrol reports 46-year-old Anton Gerke was loading a car onto a trailer attached to the pickup when it began to roll down a hill at the intersection of West Harrison and Worth Streets.

Fifty-eight-year-old Patricia Gerke attempted to enter the truck, the opened door struck a utility pole, and she fell to the road. The truck continued down the hill, traveled off the road, through the side of a garage, and struck a parked car inside, causing extensive damage to the pickup and the car to be totaled.

The Patrol reports an ambulance transported Anton Gerke to the University Hospital in Columbia with moderate injuries.

Patricia Gerke was taken by air ambulance to the University Hospital.
