Twenty seven THS-TMS band students audition for Grand River Conference All-Conference Band

Twenty-seven Trenton High School and Middle School band students auditioned for the Grand River Conference All-Conference Band on Wednesday. Twenty-four Trenton band students received a chair placement or an alternate position, with 17 for the high school band and seven for the junior high.

Doctor Nathan Gay from Missouri Western State University will be the guest conductor for the high school band, and conference band directors will direct the junior high band at the South Harrison High School on the evening of February 1st at 5 o’clock.

Trenton band members receiving first chair positions in the High School All-Conference Band include Connor Campbell on bass clarinet, Trager Leeper on trumpet, and Lydia Leininger on percussion. Campbell also received fourth chair clarinet and first alternate on baritone saxophone but went with his bass clarinet placement.

High School All-Conference Band members receiving placements in the top five of their instruments include Mari Atup for second chair flute, Mackenzie Klinginsmith third chair clarinet, Tucker Otto third chair percussion, Dylan Smith fourth chair percussion, Trent Villacampa fourth chair trumpet, and Jesse Ledbetter fifth chair trumpet.

Other high school band members include Serenity Marsh eighth chair clarinet, Ann Airey eighth chair trombone, Kayleigh Snuffer ninth chair flute, Amanda Parrack 12th chair clarinet, Kayleigh Street 15th chair clarinet, and Adriana Lawrence 19th chair clarinet. Parrack received first chair tenor saxophone but chose to go with her clarinet chair placement. Nick Smith is the first alternate for baritone, and Haley Shultz is the second alternate for percussion.

Junior High All-Conference Band members from Trenton receiving chair placements in the top five of their instruments include Shayla Chapman for first chair clarinet, Victor Markell second chair trombone, Cade Claycomb third chair alto saxophone, and Cayden Spears third chair tuba.

Other junior high band members include Caleb Campbell seventh chair trombone and Collin Taylor seventh chair percussion. Brodie Burgess is the second alternate for trombone.

Trenton R-9 Director of Bands Ethan Stewart says conference band alternates years with the conference choir.

The conference directors are considering moving the Grand River Conference All-Conference Band performance site from Bethany to Trenton following the completion of the performing arts center.
