The Trenton City Council’s utility committee is recommending the engineering firm Burns and McDonnell be asked how much it would cost to perform a water rates study in connection with a water main replacement project.

The water main replacements would be funded through higher water rates.

Discussion at the utility committee meeting also included what’s needed to generate electricity locally when power purchased by TMU is disrupted. TMU staff are being asked to find out how much it would cost and a time frame to perform the work.

Costs also are to be obtained for options involving fiber optics.

The next scheduled council meeting is October 24th.
