The Trenton Bulldogs claimed three singles victories in tense 9-7 finals, part of a 6-3 varsity tennis victory on Monday afternoon at Chariton High School in Chariton, Iowa.  Bryce Whitney, Creed Houghton, and Wyatt Neal took the 9-7 wins, with #1 singles player Jacob Davis cruising to an 8-love win, while #2 entry Nick Shields won 8-4.  Chariton’s only singles win came from Nathan Kalsem (#4 singles) over Trenton’s Kade Ockenfels, 8-5.

Ockenfels rebounded nicely from his singles setback, teaming with Whitney for Trenton’s only doubles victory, 8-4.  The Bulldogs teams of Davis/Shields (8-6 loss) and Houghton/Neal (7-6 loss) came up just short of victory.

The team win evens Trenton’s season record at 2-2.  The Bulldogs travel to Savannah on Tuesday afternoon for a 4 o’clock head-to-head duel with the host Savages.

In JV action on Monday afternoon in southern Iowa, Trenton lost 5 of 6 singles matches.  The only win for THS came from Elijah Oyler, by a final of 6-4.
