In their third head-to-head match of the spring, the Trenton Bulldog tennis team has its first elusive team win, playing their second straight 5-4 duel in as many days, but unlike Monday’s result in St. Joseph against Benton, Tuesday’s result was a 5-4 win over the visiting Carrollton Trojans.
Winning for the Bulldog varsity were #2 singles player Kade Ockenfels (10-2 over Bryce Fitzpatrick), #3 singles Bryce Whitney (10-7 over Glendon Jenkins), #4 singles Creed Houghton (10-7 over Michael Greer), and #6 singles C.J. Sibbitt (10-8 over Payton Barry). Carrollton’s singles victories were at #1, with Jackson Barry downing Nick Shields 10-4, and at #5, with Noland Glenn the 10-5 victor over Dylan May.
In doubles, Trenton’s only victory was from the #1 team of Ockenfels and Whitney, 8-4 over Barry and Jenkins. For Carrollton, Fitzpatrick and Davis beat Shields and Houghton 8-5, while Glenn and Barry slipped by May and Sibbit 9-7.
While Trenton’s record is now 1-2, Carrollton drops to 1-5.
Carrollton won four of five junior varsity matches against the Bulldogs. Trenton’s doubles team of Dillon Parrack and Weston Otto played three doubles matches, going 1-2. Their victory came 6-love over Lucas Brownley and Hunter Wood of the Trojans. Colten Hamilton played two JV singles matches for THS, and went 0-2 on the afternoon.
