Trenton teen swerves to miss animal in roadway, car ends up in front yard of residential home

Trenton Police and other first responders went to the scene last night in eastern Trenton where a car had driven over a retaining wall on private property. The single-vehicle accident happened on Iowa Boulevard south of 10th Street.

Police report 19-year-old Shayla Dawn Woodside of Trenton was driving a car southbound on Iowa Boulevard when she swerved to avoid an animal, possibly a coyote, that had crossed in front of her. Police said the car then left the road where it went over a retaining wall on property owned by Clifford Roeder. The car came to a stop in the front yard of the Roeder residence at 398 Iowa Boulevard.

Assisting police at the scene were Grundy County Emergency Medical Services and the Trenton Fire Department. The police report indicated no injury occurred and that the driver was using a seat belt. The car, which sustained front-end damage, was towed from the scene. Galen Owen was listed as the owner of the vehicle.
