Trenton R-9 and North Mercer R-3 schools report on enrollment as school begins

Classes began for the Trenton R-9 and North Mercer R-3 school districts today (Wednesday).

Trenton reports a total first-day enrollment of 1,069 for kindergarten through 12th grade which is a decrease of 29 students from the first day last year. Total enrollment for the first day of the 2018-2019 school year was up 26 from the 2017-2018 school year.

The largest class for Trenton R-9 this year is seventh grade with 95, third and 12th grades tie for the smallest class with 69 students in each. Kindergarten enrollment is 85.

North Mercer R-3 reports a total first-day enrollment of 191 for preschool through 12th grade which is two fewer students than the first day last year.

The largest class for North Mercer is first grade with 21 students, the smallest is second grade with seven. Nineteen students are enrolled in preschool.
