The Trenton Police Department reports a phone scam was reported to them recently.
The scam involved someone claiming to be a grandson asking for money, however, the resident recognized the call to be a scam and hung up.
The police department says others who receive a phone call like this should ask the caller for the name of the jail so they can call and check custody status, look up the number for the jail and not use the number provided to them, call the jail, and call other family members to verify if the person was arrested.
