Trenton man takes his own life Friday night

Officers from the Trenton Police Department and Grundy County sheriff’s office responded to a residence on the east side of Trenton late Friday night in reference to what police called a suicidal male with a firearm.

Police reported, upon arrival officers located the male inside the residence with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police report lifesaving measures were immediately initiated by members of the Grundy County Ambulance Service who already were on the scene.

Grundy County Coroner Duane Slater pronounced the 48-year-old Trenton man dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
