Trenton man pleads guilty to lesser charge; Sentenced to 75 days in jail

A Trenton man, 21-year-old Carlos Gonzalez has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge involving drugs and was sentenced to serve time in jail.

Before Judge Jack Peace, Gonzalez, on Friday, entered a plea of guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. Originally, the felony charge filed in February by a special prosecutor had accused Gonzalez of allegedly distributing a controlled substance to a minor on November 6th of last year.

After pleading to the lesser charge, Gonzalez was sentenced to 75 days in the Grundy county jail. He was given credit for time served. Gonzalez further was ordered to pay a jail boarding fee of $30.00 per day – a total of $2,250 to the Grundy County Law Enforcement Center.
