Trenton man held without bond on domestic assault charge

Trenton Police responded Sunday to a report of an alleged assault at 16th and Mable Streets with one arrest made during the incident.

Thirty-nine-year-old Joshua Dee Phillips of Trenton has been charged with domestic assault in the first degree, allegedly causing serious physical injury to another person. Phillips also faces a misdemeanor charge involving the alleged theft of boots with metal leg braces, valued at least $150, from Jon Phillips.

Joshua Phillips is accused of using a closed fist to strike the victim about the face, head, and upper torso. Police reported according to the court information that the incident caused the victim to suffer multiple and some major lacerations, bruising, orbital fracture, a nasal injury, and internal bleeding.

Among the witnesses listed in the court document is personnel at Wright Memorial Hospital/Saint Luke’s Health System.

Joshua Phillips was held in custody without bond pending an appearance Tuesday in the Associate Division of the Grundy County Circuit Court.
