Trenton man arrested on stealing and identity theft allegations

Trenton police on Saturday arrested a Trenton man following an investigation that involved alleged stealing and identity theft.

Thirty-four-year-old Justin Wayne Stephenson is to appear May 14th in Associate Division of Grundy County Circuit Court. Bond on the felony counts has been set at $15,000 cash.

Stephenson is accused of appropriating currency of at least $750.00 on April 23rd that belonged to Joseph Barnes. Police also accuse Stephenson of intentions to allegedly deceive or defraud the victim (Barnes) by transferring his social security number resulting in a theft that was said to exceed $750.00.

Court information notes Justin Stephenson is a prior offender with convictions previously obtained in Pulaski County in September of 2011 for tampering in the first degree of a motor vehicle and in June of 2012 for burglary in the first degree.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department reports the arrest of Michelle Harding on a probation and parole department warrant. Her last known address is listed as Milan.

Online court information shows previous convictions of multiple counts of felony stealing in Mercer County as well as cases involving bad checks in three area counties: Grundy, Harrison, and Sullivan.
