Trenton Fire Department responds to Lord Street

A resident used a fire extinguisher to put out what was described as a small fire inside an apartment at 1300 Lord. The Trenton fire department was called to the scene after 6 o’clock Sunday night, however, the fire was out by the time crews arrived.

Trenton Lieutenant Jeremy Summers reported a twin size mattress was removed and a fan was used to ventilate the apartment and remove light smoke.

The report listed the occupant as Misty Riddle. The Trenton Heights Apartments are managed by Cindy Soptic.

The cause is described as under investigation and firefighters were at the scene

for 30 minutes. Assisting at the scene were the Grundy County Rural Fire District and the Grundy County Ambulance Service.
