Child Endangerment

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department reports a married couple from Trenton arrested Wednesday and charged with misdemeanor second degree endangering the welfare of a child has posted bond.

Seventy-one-year-old George Ellis has also been charged with two counts of misdemeanor fourth-degree domestic assault; first or second offense with bond set at $5,000 cash only. Sixty-year-old Paula Ellis’s bond was $2,500 cash only.

Court documents accuse George Ellis of recklessly causing physical pain to two family or household members by pushing one to the ground and by punching the other in the face, pushing him or her down, and kicking the person in the ribs with boots.

Both George and Paula Ellis are accused of creating a substantial risk to the life and body or health of a child younger than 11 years old by having unsafe living conditions.

The Ellises are scheduled for the Associate Division of circuit court May 14th.
