Trenton city tax receipts continue downward trend

Trenton city sales tax receipts for the first five months of this fiscal year are down about 3% for General Purposes, Capital Projects, and Parks compared to the same period a year ago.

The city sales tax for General Purposes has generated about $326,000 which is down nearly $11,000 compared to May through September of last year.

Receipts from the city sales tax for Capital Projects are near $163,000 which is down nearly $4,900 compared to the first five months of last fiscal year.

Parks tax receipts are slightly over $152,000, which is down nearly $4,800 compared to the same period last year.

The Trenton city sales tax for firefighting equipment, training, and services did not go into effect until last October, with receipts from that tax nearly $76,000 in the first five months of May through September of this fiscal year.

Total money from the fire tax is near $145,000 since last November when receipts began to be received.
