Trenton High School’s boys golf squad traveled to the north side of Kansas City on Thursday afternoon, challenging themselves against the vicious wind gusts provided by Mother Nature, not to mention the high-end talent of schools from across the K.C. metro area and the 18-hole, par  72 Tiffany Greens Course.

Out of 17 teams in the Park Hill Invitational, Trenton finished a respectable 10th, with a team score of 356.  That mark was just two strokes behind 9th place Blue Springs (354), and beat out schools the likes of Park Hill South, Kearney, North Kansas City, Raymore-Peculiar, Oak Park, Fort Osage, and Winnetonka.

Lee’s Summit West took the team title with a score of 304, seven strokes better than the 311 from runner-up Liberty North.  Park Hill was third with 323.  Finishing 3rd through 8th, in order, were Lee’s Summit, Lee’s Summit North, Liberty, Staley, and Smithville.

The individual medalist, shooting a 1-over par round of 73, was Kerry Maguire of Lee’s Summit West.  Tanner Owen of Park Hill South was runner-up at 74, followed by a five-way tie for third place at 75, between Pedro Ramirez of North Kansas City, Nelson Searcy of Lee’s Summit West, Gavin McDonald of Lee’s Summit North, Sam Parrott of Liberty, and Drew Neuerburg of Liberty North.

Trenton’s top score was a 12-over par score of 84 turned in by Nate Swann, good for five-way tie for 25th place.  Cree Mullenix shot 87, for a 33rd place finish.  Lathan Croy shot 91 for the Bulldogs, finishing in a tie for 42nd place with Smithville’s Connor Rumney.  Corbyn Guile of Trenton and Bennett Holloway of Staley tied in 46th place at 84.  Luke Lewis of THS shot 101, for a 60th place tie.
