The Trenton Administrative Committee recommended Tuesday evening sending changes regarding the sign policy and row crop rental to the city council.

City Clerk Cindy Simpson reports the change for the sign policy would involve signs being erected “along the right-of-way adjoining the residence of a minor….” The policy currently says “a minor under the age of 18 years of age with a hearing impairment that substantially limits said minor’s major life activities.” The policy would be changed to “a minor under the age of 18 years of age with a handicap certified by a doctor that substantially limits said minor’s major life activities.”

The policy would still involve citizens making a written request and the city administrator and/or his designee requiring the street department to erect signs “along the right-of-way adjoining a child daycare center” as defined in city code and “along the right-of-way adjoining the residence of a minor….”

Changes regarding the row crop rental would include changing the number of acres in the area north of the Trenton shooting range from 45 to 65 more or less. The current lease agreement says the “lessor reserves the right to apply waste sludge to the real estate or to sell any portion thereof.” It would be changed to the “lessor reserves the right to apply waste sludge to the real estate,” and the “lessor reserves the right to sell any portion thereof.” The row crop rental will eventually be bid out.
