Personnel and equipment from Spickard and Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District responded to a grass fire east of Spickard late Wednesday afternoon.

Training officer for the Spickard department, Jesse Richmond, reported approximately 20 acres of pasture ground burned on land belonging to Jim Roy. The location is along Route B, about two miles east of U.S. Highway 65.

Richmond said the blaze began with a trash fire, then winds blew embers into the dry grass.  He noted the Spickard Fire Protection District was at the scene for one and a half to two hours Wednesday.

No structures were threatened. No injuries were reported.
