TMS and THS students attend FCCLA regional meeting in St. Joseph

FCCLA Advisor Suzi Beck reports more than 450 members, advisors, guests, and drivers gathered at the Grace Evangelical Church in St Joseph, Missouri for the 2018 Family Career and Community Leaders of America Regional Meeting on October 31st.

Forty-eight members from Trenton Middle School and eighteen members from the Trenton High School chapter were in attendance.

The theme for the 2018 Region 2 meeting was “No Place like Region 2 FCCLA”.  Before the meeting began, students from various schools participated in a talent show. After the talent show members participated in the Region 2 Meeting. The meeting was called to order by the Region 2 President, Oakley Madden from Trenton.  Other Regional Officers from Trenton High School were McKenna Cox and Camryn Willey.

Awards were presented to Grand River Technical School for best banner depicting the theme, and Hardin-Central for the best-dressed group of members. Mrs. Penny Roberts of TMS was awarded the Honorary Member for her dedication to FCCLA.  Trenton High School principal Mr. Ron Franklin received the Outstanding Administrator Award for his support and encouragement to FCCLA.

During the Miracle Minute fundraiser, $224 was collected for the Region 2 Project, Camp Rainbow.

The meeting ended with two-time cancer survivor and professional wakeboarder, Ms. Alexa Score. She spoke to students about taking life one day at a time, she was able to survive any situation by not looking at the end of the tunnel but looking at making it through one day at a time.
