THS students discuss band trip to Texas at Rotary

Two Trenton High School students spoke at Thursday’s meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club, discussing the Bulldog Bands’ upcoming trip to Houston, Texas.

Senior Drum Major Jacob Davis and senior Colorguard Captain Mickenzey Willey told members about the trip over the Thanksgiving holiday period, which features a performance by the band in the 9 a.m. HEB Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The band and chaperones will traveling in two charter buses leaving Trenton at 3 a.m. November 23, and return to Trenton around 11 p.m. on November 26th.

Besides marching in the parade, the group will visit beaches of Galveston and the Houston Space Center. 

Around $40 thousand dollars was the cost of the trip with Davis and Miss Willy noting the fund drive goal has been met. Both Davis and Miss Willey thanked the community and volunteers who supported the band

During the business meeting, Phil Hoffman and Jeff Crowley noted this is the 100th anniversary of the Rotary International Foundation which began with a $26.50 donation in Kansas City made to Rotary International.

Rotary District 6040 hopes to raise $2,650,000 for the foundation which has donated more than $800,000.
