Teenager dies in crash on I-35 north of Bethany

The Highway Patrol reports a Blackduck, Minnesota resident died as a result of a sport utility vehicle losing control on ice six miles north of Bethany on Friday afternoon.

Eighteen-year-old Tucker Depew was pronounced dead at the scene, his body was taken to the Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany.

The SUV traveled north on Interstate 35 before losing control, running off the east side of the road near mile marker 98.4, traveling down an embankment, and overturning several times. Depew was ejected, and the vehicle came to rest on its top on the east side of I-35 facing south.

Depew did not wear a seat belt. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, NTA Ambulance, Bethany Fire Department, and Harrison County Coroner assisted at the scene of the crash.

This is the first fatality accident in Harrison County this year investigated by the Patrol.
