Two teenage boys received what the highway patrol called minor injuries yesterday afternoon when a car and a U.S. postal mail carrier vehicle collided four miles east of Unionville.

The highway patrol reports Lane McDannald of Livonia and Tristen Miller of Unionville – both 16 years old – were taken by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The driver of the sports utility vehicle for the postal service, 57-year-old Roger Crawford of Unionville, was not injured.

The investigator reports the car was eastbound and the SUV westbound when a collision occurred in the center of Fern Road in Putnam County.

Damage was extensive for the car and moderate for the SUV.

The accident reports shows both boys were using seat belts while the mail carrier was not.
