Teen arrested for DWI after striking pedestrian in Bucklin

The Highway Patrol reports a pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being hit by a pickup truck in Bucklin just after midnight on Wednesday.

Twenty-seven-year-old Amanda Hepworth of New Cambria was in a residential yard at 208 Baker Street when 18-year-old Jose Montoya of Bucklin stuck her.

Life Flight Eagle transported Hepworth to the University Hospital in Columbia.

The Patrol reports Montoya received no injuries and did not wear a safety device at the time of the accident.

The Patrol arrested Montoya and charged him with the felonies of driving while intoxicated with alcohol resulting in serious physical injury, armed criminal action, second degree assault, and first degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

He is being held in the Macon County Jail on a 24 hour hold.
