The Spickard R-2 School District has announced a math teacher at Ridgeway R-5 has been hired as Spickard’s Superintendent/principal for 2021-2022. Erica Eakes will begin the position on July 1, 2021, and will succeed Doctor Kristi Weldon, who resigned earlier this year. Eakes’s salary has not been announced.
Since last week, Spickard R-2 School students have not met at the school due to a frozen water pipe. Superintendent Kristi Weldon notes the pipe is under the road on city property near the school. The Spickard R-2 School District began its academic year Thursday, August 27th. The district reports a first-day enrollment of 27 in kindergarten through sixth grade, which is an increase of four from last year’s first day. The largest class is kindergarten with six students, and the smallest is second grade with two.
